We are currently seeking a Criminal Paralegal/Caseworker to join a dynamic and busy Crime team and this position offers the potential for career progression, with the possibility of being offered a Training Contract after demonstrating strong performance and commitment. You will play an essential role in supporting the team and assisting with a wide variety of criminal law matters.
Responsibilities
- Assist with casework for both Magistrates and Crown Court matters, providing crucial support to solicitors and other team members
- Attend police stations to assist with client interviews, ensuring proper documentation and following due process
- Take detailed statements from clients and witnesses, ensuring accuracy and adherence to legal procedures
- Draft legal documents, including statements, correspondence and court submissions
- Liaise with clients, Counsel, and other stakeholders, maintaining clear and consistent communication throughout the case
Requirements
- Previous experience in criminal law is preferred
- Police Station accreditation is highly desirable; however, training will be provided for the right candidate
- A full, clean driving licence is required, with the flexibility to travel around Essex to attend courts and police stations
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to tight deadlines
- An interest in criminal law with a willingness to learn and develop professionally
